VOL. 04 — August 2026 This Month in Marieloulou
WHATS UP YALL!!
August was packed to the absolute brim. Between officially opening a coffee shop, appearing on the news, releasing one of my favorite crewnecks, designing SS27, flying an airplane, and driving 28 hours across the country with my dad, I genuinely feel like I lived several different lives this month.
Somehow, we made it through. Somehow, it was amazing.
Let’s get into it.
Time to Celebrate
DELOULOU CAFE'S GRAND OPENING
On August 1st, my friends and I officially had the grand opening of the coffee shop we built together: Deloulou.
Seeing the space completely finished and filled with people was surreal. What started as a slightly delusional idea inside a 20-foot shipping container is now a real place with its own community.
That part still feels insane to say.
There were so many moments where this project felt like one of those ideas that could either become something really cool or stay stuck in the “imagine if we did this” phase forever. But we actually did it. We built it, opened it, and watched people walk in, order drinks, sit down, take pictures, and make it part of their day.
That is the coolest feeling. 
We’ve already been working on what’s next, and our fall signature drinks are dropping in two weeks. I’m very excited for everyone to try them. Fall coffee season at Deloulou is about to be elite.
CAMOUFLAGE LACE
One of my favorite projects this month was creating camouflage lace.
I stitched tons of swirly lace panels together in an ombré pattern and turned them into pants with a cascading strapless top. It looked SO cool. I honestly think I might be the first person to do it.
That is one of my favorite parts of designing. Sometimes the idea makes no sense at first. It is just a random thought in my brain that I have never seen before. Then I get obsessed with figuring out how to make it exist.
That process is always the most fun to me.
The camouflage lace set felt dramatic, textured, weird, pretty, and completely its own thing. It was one of those projects where every step made me more excited to see the final result.
The best part of designing is having a random idea you’ve never seen before and deciding it deserves to be real.
CURRENT PROJECTS
I’ve been hard at work designing Spring/Summer 2027, and I can confidently say the designs are all bangers.
I’m creating these garments completely from scratch, and they’re going to be unlike anything I’ve made before. Honestly, unlike anything you’ve seen before. I do not want to say too much yet, but I am very, very excited about where everything is going.
This season feels like I’m pushing myself in a new way. Not just making clothes to make clothes, but really trying to build pieces that feel like little worlds. I want every garment to have a reason, a texture, a silhouette, or a detail that makes you stop and look again.
Some of my smaller experiments this month included appliquéing lace onto a hoodie because I’ve never seen lace used on one before, creating a fringe sleeve for my glasses, lol, and making a massive leather fringe skirt.
Truly the funnest.
Every little experiment teaches me something. Sometimes it turns into a full piece. Sometimes it is just a weird little side quest. But either way, it keeps the ideas moving.
COZY COWBOY
This month, I released the fringe crewneck and fringed sweatpants from the Cozy Cowboy collection.
It is easily one of my favorite sets I’ve ever made. I may be biased because I’m currently obsessed with fringe, but every single time I wear it, someone compliments me.
That is always such a good sign.
The set has the exact energy I love: cozy, dramatic, and slightly ridiculous in the best possible way. Everything I want in a garment.
It still feels comfortable and easy to wear, but the fringe gives it movement and personality. It makes a simple outfit feel like something. You can just throw it on and suddenly you look like you had a whole vision, even if you were literally just trying to be comfortable.
That balance is always what I’m chasing with Marieloulou. Pieces that feel good, but still make people ask where you got them.
WE WERE ON CBS NEWS!
Another insane moment from this month: I was interviewed by CBS News alongside my good friend Junior, who was part of the coffee shop project.
It was extremely nerve-racking knowing that the interview would be on television later that same day. Like, very cool, but also very “oh my gosh, people are actually going to see this.”
But once it happened, it felt so special.
Watching something we built together receive that kind of recognition felt unreal. Deloulou started as an idea between friends, and seeing it become something that people cared enough about to put on the news was such a big moment.
I was nervous, but I’m really grateful we got to experience that.
28 HOURS TO LOS ANGELES
To wrap up the month, my dad and I finally took on a challenge we had been talking about for six months: driving nonstop from Fort Worth, Texas, to Los Angeles.
We only stopped for gas.
Apple Maps predicted 20 hours. We predicted 24. It took us a whopping 28 hours after we hit traffic arriving in LA.
We made it though, and we had fun. THATS ALL THAT MATTERS.
Honestly, it was kind of iconic. Very exhausting, obviously, but also one of those memories I know I’m going to keep forever. There is something different about being in a car that long with someone. You talk about everything, listen to music, get delirious, eat random gas station snacks, and just keep going.
We stayed in Los Angeles for a week and soaked up the Southern California spirit and community. I love it there so much.
I’m also incredibly grateful for the amazing friends I have in LA and for getting to create such cool content with them. I learned a lot, got inspired, and felt that little creative reset that happens when you step into a different environment.
But one of my favorite parts was getting that uninterrupted time with my dad on our father-daughter road trip. Life gets busy, and I know moments like that are special.
Even if they involve 28 hours in a car.
I FLEW A PLANE
While we were in Los Angeles, I flew a little Cessna plane out of Santa Monica Airport.
I know. Casual.
We took turns in the cockpit, and I had the controls for a good portion of the flight. It was such a surreal and exciting experience. I kept having these little moments where I was like, “Wait, I’m literally flying a plane right now.”
I loved it.
It was one of those things that feels scary and exciting at the same time, which is usually the sign that it is worth doing.
New side quest to get my pilot’s license, perhaps?!
Honestly, not saying no.
CURRENT OBSESSIONS
No crazy hyperfixations this month.
Just fringe, apparently.
And flying planes, apparently.
And being excited for everything that’s coming next.
That’s kind of the vibe right now. I feel like August cracked open a lot of new energy. New designs, new experiences, new ideas, new plans, and a bunch of slightly insane projects that somehow keep becoming real.
WHAT I LEARNED
This month reminded me how much can fit into a single month when you’re open to trying things, even the ideas that sound slightly insane.
Open the coffee shop.
Put lace on the hoodie.
Make a sleeve for your glasses.
Fly an airplane.
Drive 28 hours across the country.
The best experiences usually begin with deciding to just do it.
Not everything has to make perfect sense before you start. Sometimes you figure it out while you’re already moving. That has honestly been the theme of so many things in my life lately. Deloulou started as an idea that sounded a little crazy. The designs start as random thoughts I cannot stop thinking about. Even the road trip started as a “what if we actually did it?” conversation.
Then suddenly, it is real.
Overall, August was amazing, slightly exhausting, and packed to the brim. I’m feeling very grateful for the people around me and extremely excited for what’s coming next.
